Allergies and Allergic Reactions

It is not uncommon for a person to suffer from allergies during the warmer months, I’ve had to get a grip on them myself!Allergies can come in many forms, but particularly in the summer Hay Fever, Hives, Rashes and Insect-Sting Allergies are common.

Natural Remedies For Allergies

  • Add extra calcium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, and zinc into your diet
  • Add grapefruit, orange, strawberries or prunes into your diet for added bioflavonoids that help the body utilize vitamin C more efficiently.
  • Fish oil capsules daily for essential fatty acids that have anti-inflammatory properties.
  • A teaspoon of grated orange or lemon peel in honey for hay fever
  • Bee Pollen
  • Honeycomb is a desensitizing and anti-allergen substance for hay fever. Eat before symptoms show to build immunity before pollen season. Chew the wax for about 10-15 mins before spitting it out.
  • Licorice- root water (do not take licrorice root is you have high blood pressure or kidney problems)
  • Fengugreek-seed tea
  • Vitamin- rich watercress is said to be an anti-allergen
  • Eat an organic banana a day (unless of course you are allergic) for some added potassium
  • Avoid processed foods, Sugar, Dairy, and wheat when possible

Allergic Reaction Relief:

  • Take a cool bath or apply a cold compress. Cold shrinks the blood vessels and blocks further release of histamine.
  • Make a paste with a few drops of water and baking soda and rub on skin to help stop irritation and relieve the itching.

Dry Skin Relief

Bug Bites
You know how the saying goes… They bite you because you’re sweet! Well there is some truth to this old saying. Studies have shown that people who regular consume sugars and alcoholic drinks tend to draw mosquitoes to them. The color blue has been known to attract mosquitoes.

Natural Remedies For Bug Bites

  • Add Vitamin B1 Thamine to your diet, especially before heading out.
  • Clean the bite, if water is unavailable apply saliva to the bite. Then equal mixture of one of the following with water:
  • lemon or lime juice and vinegar
  • Aloe Vera
  • Baking soda and water paste
  • Basil
  • Eucalypus
  • Garlic
  • Honey
  • Lavender
  • Lemongrass
  • Thyme
  • Peppermint
  • Stings

Insect stings

Insect stings can be quite bothersome and sometime the stinger is even left in the skin. DO NOT squeeze the insect if still attached to the stinger simply flick it off and scrape (not tweeze or pull) the stinger from the skin.

Natural Remedies For Stings

  • Baking soda and vinegar
  • Honey
  • Grated Horseradish Root
  • Garlic crushed
  • Lavender Oil
  • Plantin juice (Plantago major, broad leaf and Plantago lanceolata, long leaf)
  • Potato slices raw
  • Onion slices raw
  • Vinegar and lemon or lime juice
  • Vitamin E

Sunburn

First understand that Sunburn is caused by a nutritional deficiency of vitamin D and melanin. Insufficient amounts of Vitamin D has been linked to an increased risk of type 1 diabetes, muscle and bone pain, cancers of the skin, breast, colon, prostate, ovaries, esophagus, and lymphatic system. Aside from the common knowledge that Melanin determines skin color, Melanin also protects against the Ultra-Violet Rays of the Sun that result in DNA mutations. Despite claims, a vast majority of commercial Sunscreen Products directly promote a deficiency in vitamin D and also contain numerous toxic and carcinogenic ingredients.

Natural Remedies For Sunburn

  • For immediate relief, take a HOT yes Hot shower. Hot water desensitizes the skin providing fast relief to burns. (Not recommended for second degree burns with broken or blistered skin start with cold water)
  • Apply cool raw slices of cucumber, apple or potato skin.
  • Apply fresh cool aloe vera gel from the plant. (stick to the natural source, many products contain toxic additives with the aloe vera juices and gels)
  • Burned eyelids: fresh herbal teabags soaked in cool water.
  • Apply Organic Raw Honey
